Matador Talkies, a film production startup, needed a brand reflecting both the glamor of old Hollywood and the vigor of contemporary storytelling. The team’s discovery phase dug deep into the history of cinema branding, uncovering motifs and production styles that still resonate with audiences today.
Matador Talkies, a budding production company, needed a brand identity capturing their love for classic cinema. They envisioned a look reminiscent of the golden age of film but with a contemporary twist to appeal to modern audiences
Our discovery phase immersed us in the visual language of vintage Hollywood: typography, textures, and color palettes that evoked timeless glamour and storytelling. We reviewed iconic film posters, studio logos, and archival graphics, identifying key elements that inspire nostalgia and respect for the craft.
Solution
Our designers crafted a logotype inspired by hand-painted movie titles from mid-century cinema, paired with elegant serif fonts that echoed film credits of the past. A muted, cinematic color palette with shades of sepia, maroon, and charcoal was chosen to create a classic atmosphere
Textures like film grain and subtle scratches were layered onto backgrounds, giving every piece an authentic, timeless feel. Mockups included event posters, clapboard-themed business cards, and branded social templates that made Matador Talkies look like a studio with decades of heritage.
We delivered scalable logos, social templates, and detailed brand guidelines covering photography treatments and typography applications. A live walk-through with their creative team ensured everyone understood how to maintain the nostalgic tone across new projects.
The new identity helped Matador Talkies secure collaborations with established directors, validating the power of a brand that feels both classic and confident.
